OK, so let’s talk about last night’s episode of the Bachelorette! Seriously—kudos to the ABC production team for making it a nail biter to the end.
I missed the Men Tell All due to being at Leighton’s truck pull (priorities!), so if someone wants to comment on that then that would be lovely!
Let’s get started. I thought both men seemed to have a really good visit with her family. Might I also add that Kaitlyn seemed to have the most realistic family the show has ever seen… Nick shocked me with his tears when talking to Kaitlyn’s mom about marrying her. Kaitlyn’s mom started off the conversation thinking of Nick as a jerk and then left with a soft spot for him. It was actually kind of sweet in the “you are still an ass” kind of way. However, I did like how Nick made it clear that he wasn’t just a contestant, he came solely for Kaitlyn. Risky! Will it pay off? Keep reading.
Shawn blew her parents away, and had the whole family on team Shawn before they left (probably thanks to his Ryan Gosling doppelgänger persona). I don’t remember anything too important from his time besides they all got along really well and the family wanted Kaitlyn to pick Shawn based on how she acted around him. Soooo moving on.
Nick and Kaitlyn had a really nice final date and Nick gave her a really sweet picture frame from their first date and a little poem describing how he felt when he first met her. I thought this was sweet, but a little overdone. Hey a picture is worth a thousand words though! Shawn and Kaitlyn’s time was a little different….Kaitlyn was SO awkward. She wasn’t talking that much and she seemed very stand-offish Now knowing the results of the show though, I think she was just getting cold feet. Ending their evening, they were back to their loving selves and Shawn gave Kaitlyn a VERY sweet and meaningful gift. He put together a memory jar full of items from all of their experiences and adventures together. (swoon).
So it all comes down to that final rose and a ring. Kaitlyn said it best when she talked about one of the men being blind-sided. Nick and Shawn both picked out beautiful rings for Kaitlyn. Beautiful and BIG. Now I am not the girl to think that size matters too much, but MAN OH MAN those rings were amazing!!! Neil Lane, do you want to show up at my boyfriend’s doorstep?? (Hehe).
Kaitlyn’s gown for the proposal was gorgeous. The nude color on her skin tone with her long dark curls was just absolutely stunning. Fortunately, Nick was sent home. I felt a little bad for him, but we all knew it was just a fling and the electricity between them would one day fade. Nick took the news fairly well, but he did not want to hear her excuses or reasoning for not picking him. Understandable!
Then there was one… Good ole Shawn. Not my favorite pick. I would have rather seen Ben Z end up with her honestly. But no one asked my opinion! HA! Shawn did give a very sweet proposal speech and just as I suspected, it ended with Kaitlyn saying, “it’s you! It’s always been you!” Shawn proposed with a STUNNING Neil Lane ring and the couple couldn’t seem happier. So congrats to Kaitlyn and Shawn on your engagement!
While thinking about this post, I got to thinking if I thought the couple would stay together, will the wedding really happen or will it be another hoax? The Bachelorette is not made up of actors and actresses looking for their 15 minutes of fame. Many of the contestants truly want to find love or at least travel and hope for love. In the end, does it really matter what their feelings are or are the producers telling them how to act or how to feel. I mean it is NO coincidence that Nick and Shawn the only two that hated each other ended up as the final two men. I guess some things we will never know!
Best of luck to the current happy couple & on to Bachelor in Paradise!!!!!
With love & a sprinkle of sarcasm,
